Ruth Burrows Volunteer Award
The Ruth Burrows Volunteer Award was established in 1990 to recognize Ruth Burrows, an exemplary community volunteer. Since then, the award has been presented annually to an individual who has made an outstanding and exceptional contribution to the community. Past winners of this award are:

Maurice Rollins Community Leadership Award for Youth - Celebrating the Spirit of Volunteerism in Tomorrow's Leaders
The Maurice Rollins Community Leadership Award for Youth annually honours an outstanding young leader in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties. Voluntary organizations, community groups, schools and individuals may nominate a young person aged 16-24 who has made an exceptional contribution. The award was established to recognize Maurice Rollins, a visionary and leader in our community. Past winners of this award are:

Volunteer Recognition

International Day of Volunteers
International Volunteer Day takes place on December 5th each year and is officially recognized by the United Nations as a day on which volunteers around the world are recognized and celebrated for their contributions and dedication. Volunteer & Information Quinte organizes a free event for all volunteers in our community of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties.

National Volunteer Week Volunteer Celebration (April)
What is National Volunteer Week?
National Volunteer Week is a special time set aside in April each year to honour and recognize Canadians who donate time and energy to their fellow citizens. National Volunteer Week also raises awareness of the vital contribution volunteers make to our communities and our country.

In partnership with the Quinte Association of Volunteer Administrators (QAVA) group, VIQ organizes an annual event held during National Volunteer week.  Event to be announced later in the new year.

Volunteer of the Week - Hastings & Prince Edward

In partnership with the Shopper's Market and Live Love and Laugh Florist, a volunteer is nominated Volunteer of the Week. Each week, the nominated volunteer receives a bouquet of flowers and recognition in the Shopper's Market.

Volunteer of the Month - North Hastings

In partnership with Bancroft This Week and Pepin's No Frills, a volunteer is nominated Volunteer of the Month. Each month, the nominated volunteer receives a gift certificate and recognition in the Bancroft This Week newspaper.
