Experience for recent grads

With the summer months upon us there will be many college and university graduates looking to find work after completing their programs. You have been equipped with the knowledge. You may have gained great experience in placements positions, but is that enough for you to stand out among the other applicants?
For most new graduates a job may not come right away; you may have months of job searching ahead of you. I strongly encourage you to make time in your job search schedule to volunteer. You don’t need a lot of time, a couple hours a week will be enough. You will have the opportunity to build skills, build your resume, gain valuable references, improve mental health and boost your self esteem if you are feeling down about not finding something. It is an opportunity to share and use the knowledge you have gained at school with organizations. You will network with people who work in your field, they can be mentors or lead you to a job. Volunteer & Information Quinte has a database with more than 500 volunteer opportunities within many different sectors. We can help you find something that will best suit your goals.
Some volunteer opportunities to choose from include:
